Multiple owners over the past 10+ years. Authentic northern Chinese + Sichuan dishes. The "casseroles" on the menu are popular. Lanzhou Beef noodle soup: made with something like a brisket. Tougher meat.. beef flavor wo the MSG or additives. Traditionally this has daikon and beef shank w/hand pulled noodles. Noodles are very soft, melt in mouth texture. Looks like hand pulled. Cold sichuan chicken appetizer: boiled and shredded chicken w/mala or the numb sichuan peppercorns. Hot chili oil so you get multiple tastes of spicy. Classic dish. Nobody sells it here authentic like this w/multiple tastes of spicy. Pork and winter melon soup: sweet pork bone broth + dong qua. Broth is sweet, not sugary sweet; sweet from using pork bone and boiling it for a long time. Broth not fatty. Chive cake: deep fried vs. baked. Deep fried imparts a higher temp for a shorter time than baking which keeps in the steam which makes the chives both tender and juicy. Different texture than baking. Can get baked version at Jenny's kitchen in SJ. One of the only places which I know of where it is DF. hand made dough, takes time for them to make it after ordering. Potstickers; tender pork, tastes like they beat the meat or swirled it around to get it mushy like how grandma did. SErved w black vinegar. Brisk take out business. They iterate their menu constantly. They have non spicy dishes. All the above are not spicy. Funny.. a sichuan place can be distinguished by their mapo tofu which I don't see a lot of reviews for.

Ive tried a lot of stuff here. Most of the dishes have been good, but there have been some misses. I feel like thats what happens when a chinese resto goes beyond its expertise. This place is sposed to be a sichuan spot, but it has jiu cai he zi (leek box). Anyways I tried it since I was craving one and it was effing terrible. Everything else for me has been pretty good, and I feel the portion/price ratio is fair to good. In fact, this spicy chicken with potatoes dish cost like 20 bux and lasted me like 1.5 weeks. That's like with me TRYING to finish this thing...im talkin like 2 meals a day for 10 days...I ordered this togo, and the damn thing came in this foil pan that you would only see in catered meals. Overall, this is my goto chinese spot in the sunnyvale/mtn view area.

Came here on a Friday night. We had a group of 9, and got seated pretty soon. We ordered a couple of dishes. Most of them are of authentic Sichuan flavor. My fav were 石锅肥羊 and 大盘鸡. They didn't offer 豆沙锅饼 which was a regret though :(

Authentic at best. This is the type of place I crave when I want some spicy fixings. The spicy boiled lamb and the fried spicy fish filet are a must here. We always try to get a side of dumplings for those who can't handle the heat. This location seems to have a lot of group gatherings so come a bit early if you want to avoid the rush. Great place for spicy Chinese food.
